Mangaluru: Sonia Victor Soans has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science by Srinivas University. She successfully completed her doctoral research in January 2026 under the guidance of Dr. Soumya.

Her research focuses on developing a hybrid Artificial Intelligence-powered surveillance framework for university campuses. The proposed system integrates advanced technologies such as image enhancement using ESRGAN, multi-model object detection, optical flow analysis, LSTM-based behaviour analysis, and FaceNet-based person identification.

The framework has demonstrated over 95 percent detection accuracy along with real-time processing capabilities. It offers a scalable and privacy-aware solution aimed at enhancing campus security and enabling the development of smart infrastructure in educational institutions.

The study is expected to contribute significantly to the application of AI in intelligent surveillance systems, particularly in academic environments.
