Sahyadri College of Engineering-FDP on “Patent Drafting and Commercialization”…

Mangaluru: Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management is gearing up to host a two-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Patent Drafting and Commercialization” on February 17 and 18, 2025.
The program, scheduled from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on both days, is sponsored by the Karnataka State Council for Science & Technology (KSCST), Bengaluru. It is being organized by the college’s IPR Cell and the Department of Mechanical & Robotics Engineering.
The FDP aims to raise awareness about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), focusing on its legal framework and the patent filing process in India and internationally. Participants will also gain insights into the legal and commercial aspects of IPR, making the event particularly valuable for faculty members, researchers, and industry professionals.
The event will see the presence of distinguished patrons, including Dr. S. Manjappa, Director (R&D), SCEM; Dr. U. T. Vijay, Executive Secretary, KSCST; and Dr. S. S. Injaganeri, Principal, Sahyadri College. The program is coordinated by Dr. Ajith B. S., Associate Professor and Associate Dean (IPR), SCEM.
Prof. (Dr.) Gopal Mugeraya, Vice President of Technical Education, NITTE (DU), and Vice Chairman of the Higher Education Council, Government of Goa, will serve as the Chief Guest. Dr. U. T. Vijay, Executive Secretary of KSCST, will be the Guest of Honour and address the gathering.
Dr. Manjappa S., Director of R&D at Sahyadri College, will oversee the event, playing a key role in its success, while Dr. Rathishchandra Gatti, Dean (R&D), will guide discussions on research, innovation, and intellectual property awareness. This initiative underscores Sahyadri College’s commitment to fostering innovation, research, and entrepreneurship through intellectual property awareness. The FDP is expected to serve as a dynamic platform for enhancing knowledge in patent drafting, filing procedures, and commercialization strategies, contributing to technological progress and economic growth.
