Sahyadri College Hosts VTU Consortium Training on EBSCO, IEEE Xplore Platforms…

Mangaluru:The Central Library of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management hosted an enriching VTU Consortium Training Program, focusing on cutting-edge digital research platforms—EBSCO Engineering Suite, AMA MicroCourses, and IEEE Xplore. Aimed at sixth-semester students, research scholars, and faculty members, the session was designed to bolster research capabilities and professional development.

The event saw the participation of over 150 attendees, including students from all departments, faculty, research scholars, Deans, Heads of Departments, and library staff.

Mr. M S Srinivasa, Training Manager for EBSCO-IEEE (South India), led the session, providing detailed demonstrations and hands-on training. Participants gained valuable insights into navigating and utilizing advanced features of EBSCO and IEEE Xplore to maximize research efficiency and academic performance.

The training covered:

  • EBSCO Engineering Suite: A comprehensive digital resource offering access to a vast collection of engineering journals, research papers, and academic literature.

  • AMA MicroCourses: Career-focused, industry-relevant courses aimed at enhancing students’ professional skills.

  • IEEE Xplore: A premier digital library containing research articles, technical standards, and reports in engineering and technology.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Bharathi K, Librarian, followed by an introductory note from Mr. Sudheer Shetty, Vice Principal. Dr. Shamanth Rai, Dean of Academics, presented an overview of the initiative and introduced the resource person. Dr. S S Injaganeri, Principal, delivered the Presidential Remarks. The session was compered by Mrs. Smitha Shenoy, AAO, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shwetha Kumari, Assistant Librarian.

An online quiz competition added an interactive dimension to the event, allowing participants to test their understanding and win prizes.

The training program successfully provided a platform for students and faculty to engage with advanced research tools, fostering a deeper understanding of digital resources critical for academic and professional growth.
