Mangaluru: Infosys Foundation, in collaboration with ICT Academy and Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management (SCEM), inaugurated a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing employability skills through advanced data analytics training. Hosted by the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) at SCEM, the program aims to empower 130 final-year students with IT skills aligned to global industry standards.
The inauguration ceremony featured the symbolic lighting of the ceremonial lamp, with notable attendees including Mr. D. Vishnu Prasad, Deputy General Manager of ICT Academy; Mr. Vignesh Shetty, Relationship Manager of ICT Academy; and Mr. Praveen Gasti, Project Coordinator of ICT Academy.
In his keynote address, Mr. D. Vishnu Prasad lauded Infosys Foundation and ICT Academy for their forward-thinking approach to addressing the skill gap in the industry. “This initiative is a vital step toward equipping students with the expertise needed to meet future workforce demands,” he said.
Dr. Sarathi Manjappa, Director of R&D and President of Sahyadri Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), highlighted the long-standing partnership between SCEM and ICT Academy, which began in 2019. Acknowledging the efforts of Dr. Anush Bekal, he praised the initiative for fostering innovation and preparing students for competitive job markets.
SCEM Principal, Dr. Sidramappa Injaganeri, expressed pride in hosting such a transformative program. “This reflects our commitment to providing students with both academic rigor and practical exposure, aligning with global industry needs,” he said in his presidential address.
Dr. Anush Bekal, the driving force behind the program, shared insights into its evolution. Initially designed exclusively for female students, the program has expanded to include male students this year. With SCEM being the only institution receiving this opportunity in 2024, Dr. Bekal emphasized the initiative’s holistic approach to developing both technical and soft skills, creating a workforce equipped for diverse professional environments.
The program, running until December 15, 2024, offers 100 hours of offline technical training, underscoring Infosys Foundation’s commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. By equipping students with cutting-edge skills, the initiative aims to build an equitable environment where individuals from all backgrounds can achieve their potential.
