Honouring the Champions of knowledge atSahyadri Whiz Quiz 2023…
Mangaluru: Department of Business Administration (MBA) of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru organized ‘Sahyadri Whiz-Quiz 2023′, a quiz competition for undergraduates in the campus. Around 450 students were at the campus for the Grand Finale of the 9th edition of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz.
The Lamp Lighting Ceremony was held and the programme was inaugurated by Mr. Gaurav Hegde, M D-GR Stones Specialities Pvt. Ltd., Past Chairman, CII Mangalore as the Chief Guest; Mr. Steevan Pinto, Chairman, NIPM Mangalore Manipal Chapter was the Guest of Honour; Ms. Harshitha Shetty, Executive-Human Possibilities, Robosoft Technologies was the Alumni guest; Dr. Manjappa S, Director R&D and Consultancy; Dr. Rajesha S, Principal; Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA Program; Prof. Ramesh KG, Dean-Strategic Planning; Prof. Suchithra Achar and Prof. Anirudh Bhat, the faculty program coordinators and Mr. Yajnesh Shetty, student coordinator.
Dr. Vishal Samartha, welcomed the gathering and introduced Sahyadri and its achievements to the audience. Dr. Rajesha S, Principal gave the introductory remarks. In his address, he stated the growth story of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz till the 9th edition. He mentioned how Whiz Quiz has helped to improvise students’ knowledge on current affairs.
Mr. Gaurav Hegde, in his speech, appreciated Sahyadri for taking quiz competition at Mangalore to a National level while speaking about the evolution in organizing quiz. He said – “One can create a good impression when he/she has enhanced knowledge on current affairs”. He re-iterated that Sahyadri is doing an amazing work in terms of making students industry ready and is one of the best in the state.
Mr. Steevan Pinto, while speaking to the audience, admired the involvement of faculty in events that contribute to skills. He appreciated the efforts of the institution for being on par with NEP of giving equal importance to Extra-curricular activities along with Academics for the holistic development of students. He said – “Skill Development is the engine for Economic growth of a nation”. Removing S from Skill is kill and further removing K is ill, hence Skill plays an important role in development.
After Unveiling the Trophies, Ms. Harshitha Shetty, in her speech, appreciated the shortlisted teams for the Grand Finale and that quiz is a tool for improvement. She further urged the students to connect and network with people during events like these.
Dr. Manjappa S in his Presidential address, said – “Quiz is always related to IQ and Personality Development. While quoting that Indian managers hold major positions in the world, he informed that Sahyadri produces managers year after year to add to these lists of managers. He also mentioned how Whiz Quiz event has branded Sahyadri at national level.
Mr. Rakshith Shetty, CEO-Hakuna Matata, Bengaluru, was the Quiz Master. Immediately after the formal function, the first preliminary round was held. Finally, 6 teams were selected for the Grand Finale. Mr. Devadas Hedge, Trustee and Dr. Rajesha S, Principal, felicitated the winners during the Concluding Ceremony
The following teams emerged as winners:
Soumya A R, Sushant Shekhar and Ankit Sharma from MIT Manipal, won 1st prize with a trophy and cash prize of Rs.30,000
Rachan Kumar, Shreyas Kamath and Amit Korvekar from Canara College, Mangaluru won 2nd place with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs.20,000
Likith Sanil, Aravinda A and Hrithik from MAPS College, Mangaluru won 3rd place with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs.10,000
Vivekananda College, Puttur; Yuvaraja College, Mysore and SDM College, Mangaluru won Consolation Prizes with Cash Prize of Rs.5,000 each.
