Mangaluru, April 9:  HYDGEN Innovation Pvt. Ltd. hosted its flagship event, HYDGEN Innovation Day 2025, at the Sahyadri Campus in Mangaluru, bringing together a distinguished gathering of industry leaders, policymakers, academicians, and technologists to explore the evolving landscape of green hydrogen in India.

The day-long event featured keynote sessions, expert talks, panel discussions, live demonstrations, and MoU signings—positioning itself as a key platform for collaboration, innovation, and action in the green hydrogen sector.

The event was inaugurated by T. D. Rajegowda, MLA of Sringeri and Chairman of the Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL), along with key dignitaries including Dr. Ranjith Krishna Pai, Senior Director & Scientist ‘F’, DST, Government of India; Dr. Michael Gryseels, Chairman, HYDGEN; Dr. Goutam Dalapati, CTO, HYDGEN; Dr. Manippady Krishna Kumar, COO, HYDGEN; Dr. SS Injaganeri, Principal, Sahyadri College; Dr. Manjappa Sarathi, Director of Research, Sahyadri College; Mrs. Ramyasri DS, Corporate Director, HYDGEN; and Mr. Chandrashekhar Aithal, Facility Manager, HYDGEN.

Karnataka Leads the Green Hydrogen Charge

In his inaugural address, T. D. Rajegowda emphasized Karnataka’s proactive role in promoting green hydrogen adoption. The state is formulating a dedicated Green Hydrogen Policy, developing a Green Energy Corridor, and supporting key pilot projects such as a 300kW Green Hydrogen initiative at BTPS, positioning Karnataka as a national frontrunner in clean energy innovation.

National Vision for a Hydrogen Economy

Delivering the keynote, Dr. Ranjith Krishna Pai elaborated on the Department of Science & Technology’s Hydrogen Valley projects and cutting-edge R&D in hydrogen production, storage, and application. He underscored DST’s push for ecosystem-level innovations to meet India’s net-zero and energy security goals.

Expert Talks and Industry Insights

The event featured a series of thought-provoking sessions. Mr. Deepak Yadav presented an in-depth overview of the green hydrogen (GH2) value chain, exploring production, infrastructure, economic viability, and India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission.

In a pivotal panel titled “Fuelling the Future: Investment Strategies for Green Hydrogen in India,” moderated by HYDGEN Chairman Dr. Michael Gryseels, panelists including Mr. Mohammed Shoeb Ali (TVC), Dr. Avishek Kumar (VFlowTech), and Ms. Priya Anka S (YonderH2 Adore) shared strategies for accelerating investment and scaling up green hydrogen projects.

Green Hydrogen in Industrial Applications

Several experts discussed sector-specific innovations:

  • Mr. Sunil Sachdev (IOCL) highlighted GH2’s role in refinery decarbonization.

  • Dr. Nagesh Kini (Vimano EWA) focused on advanced membrane technologies for electrolysis.

  • Mr. Snehal Suryavanshi detailed ultra-pure water’s importance in hydrogen generation.

  • Mr. Jayant Mali (Batliboi Ltd) emphasized GH2 in sustainable manufacturing processes.

  • Ms. Kamya Kalra (GH2 India) outlined policy frameworks under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

Breakthrough Technologies & Academic Contributions

Technological advancements in membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs), catalysts, and gasket technologies were presented by:

  • Dr. Prashanth Suryawanshi (Tridiagonal Solutions)

  • Mr. Shyam Prasad (Speciality Graphites)

  • Dr. Vaibhav Ancham (ChemEngg Research)

The event also saw the launch of new products by HYDGEN, a live electrolyzer demonstration, and the signing of key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between stakeholders, strengthening industry-academia-government partnerships.
