Sahyadri College of Engg. & Management – Graduation Day…
Mangaluru:Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru, 13th Graduation Day for the Bachelor of Engineering students and 1st of Autonomous MBA students passed out in the year 2023 was held on October 7th at Sahyadri Campus in the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Jagdish Bhandarkar, Partner at Deloitte India.
During the programme, Dr. Rajesha S, Principal, welcomed the gathering and also shared a glimpse of Sahyadri with its growth story since its inception. He remarked that about 842 students graduated in 2023 both UG and PG along with 8 PhD Scholars who got their PhD conferred. He spoke proudly of the graduation percentage at 99% and gave a report on the Companies that visited Sahyadri for hiring during the last year and the number of offers made to both UG and PG.
Moving on, Dr. Jagdish Bhandarkar, while addressing the graduates, spoke about the 10 dimensions on how to succeed in an industry • (1) Embracing possibility • (2) Courage in the field of adversity • (3) Harness Innovation • (4) Cultivate Empathy • (5) Leading with integrity
• (6) Embracing Diversity • (7) Nurturing Ife Long Learning • (8) Embodying Resilience

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Jagdish Bhandarkar mentioned that he is a Movie buff and would like to share a quote from the Kids movie Kung Fu Panda -“Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is Mystery, Today is the Gift of God which is why we call it a ‘Present’. “Make the best use of the Present”, he said.
Later, the Rank Holders where felicitated by the Trustees – Mr. Jagannath Chowta and Mr. Devadasa Hegde along with the dignitaries on the dais – Mr. Johnson Tellis, Trustee and CEO; Dr. Rajesha S, Principal; Dr. Shantharajappa, COE and the Chief Guest. The award was the appreciation from ‘Sahyadri Group of Institutions Employees and Students Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Ltd, recognizing achiever’s exceptional dedication and performance.
Post which the respective Heads of each department – MBA, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Information Science & Engineering invited the graduates on the stage for their certificates.
Dr. Shantharajappa, CEO, lead the Oath Taking ceremony and the Chief Guest admitted the students presented before him to the respective courses.
Two of the graduates shared a few words on their experience and how they evolved at Sahyadri.
Mr. Johnson Tellis, in his concluding remarks, remembered how much of a loyal student he is of Sahyadri as he returned to Sahyadri after graduating and set up his company, generated employment for his friends, reached out to mentors in the college as well as outside and started another company.
He shared the three principles of his life • When you want to find yourself, lose yourself • When in doubt ‘Reach Out’ • Whenever your growth suffers lift others – Create second line of leaders so that you can scale up.
Before closing the ceremony, Dr. Prashanth Rao, HoD – Basic Science delivered the Vote of Thanks for the support rendered by Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman; Ms. Prasanna Bhandary, Secretary; Trustees – Mr. Devadas Hegde and Mr. Jagannath Chowta; Ms. Rashmi Bhandary, Dean-Placements, Faculty, Non-Teaching Staff and others who directly or indirectly played a role in the success of the event.
