SCEM-ECE and KarMic Design Sign MoU to Boost Industry-Academic Collaboration…

Mangalore, October 18, 2024: In a move to enhance academic and industry collaboration, the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management (SCEM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KarMic Design Private Ltd. The partnership promises to bring advancements in education, research, and practical training.

The signing ceremony was held at KarMic’s headquarters in Manipal, with key representatives from both institutions in attendance. Dr. Sidramappa Injaganeri, Principal of SCEM, and Shri Rathnakar Bhat, Director & CEO of KarMic Design, signed the MoU.

Key Highlights of the MoU

The collaboration focuses on fostering academic exchange programs and joint initiatives, particularly in VLSI Design and Verification. Under the terms of the agreement, KarMic will provide technical support by assisting SCEM in organizing workshops, invited lectures, and technical talks. Selected SCEM students will also have the opportunity to intern with KarMic for at least one month, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the industry.

Dr. Anush Bekal, Head of the Department of ECE at SCEM, will serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for the implementation of the MoU.

Impact of the Partnership

This collaboration is set to significantly enhance the practical training and research opportunities available to students and faculty at SCEM. Students will gain exposure to real-world industry practices, while faculty members will benefit from professional development through joint research and teaching initiatives. The MoU aligns with SCEM’s mission to offer a comprehensive educational experience and drive innovation in the field of electronics and communication engineering.

Key leaders from KarMic present at the event included Gururaj Bankapur, CTO & Director; Dilipa Mogaveera, COO & Director; and Gajanan Shanbhag, CFO & Director. SCEM representatives included Assistant Professors Ashwin Kumar, Mehnaz Fathima C, Ashoka A, and Abhishek A B Nayak from the ECE department.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in strengthening ties between academia and industry, aimed at fostering excellence in engineering education.
